Almost a Full Team … complete with Hotel
By: David | February 27th, 2009Just days before Training Camp officially opens next week, FC Gold Pride is looking more like an actual pride, more than doubling their official roster of players under contract this week.
Following the recent approval of the standard contract terms for players from the US Womens National Team, defensive midfielder Leslie Osborne & goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart signed this week, and should be with the team when training camp opens Monday. The duo join Tracy Hamm as the three American players currently under contract.
In other player news, the team has rounded out its allotment of international players with the addition of Canadian goal scorer Christine Sinclair and Brazilian midfielder Erika. They join original signatories Eriko Arakawa and Formiga. The fifth international, Brazil’s Ariadne, signed last week. Toss in assistant coach Sissi, and the team’s Brazilian connection is pretty obvious; hopefully it will result in success against that famous Brazilian playing for the LA Sol.
Not feeling limited to expanding their player roster, the Lionesses also hired goalkeeper coach Jay Cooney and named Sheraton San Jose the team’s official hotel.
