Lost in the Japanese Translation
By: David | February 8th, 2009Someday, FC Gold Pride fans hope to have a second international player join Formiga on the roster — It’s not like any of the FC Lionesses come with contractually-obligated girlfriends, afterall.
The team is expressing serious optimism, however, over the prospect of signing Eriko Arakawa – #9 pictured here, with her hair … and her national team
– very soon. Although apparently, her contract is being delayed because it takes 10 days to translate the details into Japanese. 10 days!? … Couldn’t she just ask the LA Sol’s newly-signed Aya Miyama what hers says?
Truth be told, the team actually entertained Arakawa on a whistle-stop tour in early January that included visits with a prospective host family and a special appearance with a the San Jose based Japan Youth Soccer Organization. They even staged a photo opportunity for her “contract signing,” just in case she ever actually signs a contract.
Does anyone know how the contract translations into Canadian are going? Because we could really use Christine Sinclair to score some goals.

That is some serious hair.

HaHa. Someone should just pop their head out the door at the WPS offices and yell out “does anyone speak Japanese!?!?!” Problem solved in no time.

She uses the hair to confuse defenders; when she dekes one way, her hair goes another. Kinda like a lizard dropping its tail to escape predators…
